Reading I
Is 43:16-21
Thus says the LORD,
who opens a way in the sea
and a path in the mighty waters,
who leads out chariots and horsemen,
a powerful army,
till they lie prostrate together, never to rise,
snuffed out and quenched like a wick.
Remember not the events of the past,
the things of long ago consider not;
see, I am doing something new!
Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
In the desert I make a way,
in the wasteland, rivers.
Wild beasts honor me,
jackals and ostriches,
for I put water in the desert
and rivers in the wasteland
for my chosen people to drink,
the people whom I formed for myself,
that they might announce my praise.
Responsorial Psalm
Ps 126:1-2, 2-3, 4-5, 6
(3) The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.
When the LORD brought back the captives of Zion,
we were like men dreaming.
Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
and our tongue with rejoicing.
The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.
Then they said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”
The LORD has done great things for us;
we are glad indeed.
The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.
Restore our fortunes, O LORD,
like the torrents in the southern desert.
Those that sow in tears
shall reap rejoicing.
The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.
Although they go forth weeping,
carrying the seed to be sown,
They shall come back rejoicing,
carrying their sheaves.
The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.
Reading II
Phil 3:8-14
Brothers and sisters:
I consider everything as a loss
because of the supreme good of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.
For his sake I have accepted the loss of all things
and I consider them so much rubbish,
that I may gain Christ and be found in him,
not having any righteousness of my own based on the law
but that which comes through faith in Christ,
the righteousness from God,
depending on faith to know him and the power of his resurrection
and the sharing of his sufferings by being conformed to his death,
if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead.
It is not that I have already taken hold of it
or have already attained perfect maturity,
but I continue my pursuit in hope that I may possess it,
since I have indeed been taken possession of by Christ Jesus.
Brothers and sisters, I for my part
do not consider myself to have taken possession.
Just one thing: forgetting what lies behind
but straining forward to what lies ahead,
I continue my pursuit toward the goal,
the prize of God’s upward calling, in Christ Jesus.
Gospel
Jn 8:1-11
Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
But early in the morning he arrived again in the temple area,
and all the people started coming to him,
and he sat down and taught them.
Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman
who had been caught in adultery
and made her stand in the middle.
They said to him,
“Teacher, this woman was caught
in the very act of committing adultery.
Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women.
So what do you say?”
They said this to test him,
so that they could have some charge to bring against him.
Jesus bent down and began to write on the ground with his finger.
But when they continued asking him,
he straightened up and said to them,
“Let the one among you who is without sin
be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Again he bent down and wrote on the ground.
And in response, they went away one by one,
beginning with the elders.
So he was left alone with the woman before him.
Then Jesus straightened up and said to her,
“Woman, where are they?
Has no one condemned you?”
She replied, “No one, sir.”
Then Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you.
Go, and from now on do not sin any more.” |

Catholic Fundamentalism Interpretation:
Thus says The Loving Programmer, who changed the normal programming operations to open the sea, encourage Pharaoh's army to cross, then made the necessary programming alterations to drown them all. (Remember the Power of His Programming Ability!)
Now, start thinking about an even greater Programming Change that He's downloading! It's coming, can you incorporate it into your ideas of His ability?
In the desert, He opens up a highway (to Him, through John the Baptist), and He programs a river (on which you may get to Him). Wild beasts (tax collectors, etc.) respect My Programming Ability.
Those without hope of salvation now can be baptized, washed clean, and come to Me. Those whom I choose can save their immortal lives with this water, those human programs I programmed, (I gave the power to download the New Operating Instructions) that they might praise Me.
The Programmer has programmed great things for us, (so) we are filled with joy.
When The Programmer's program brought back those who's been exiled in Babylon, we understood that we were living in His Program, above all other things. We laughed, we rejoiced!
The Programmer has programmed great things for us, (so) we are filled with joy.
Then, others noticed our miraculous deliverance, and said, "The Programmer really likes them! He's programmed wonderful things for them.
And, we are glad He did.
The Programmer has programmed great things for us, (so) we are filled with joy.
Restore our programs, O Programmer, like floods in the driest desert. Those who cried when You abandoned us will reap, rejoicing.
The Programmer has programmed great things for us, (so) we are filled with joy.
Although they start by weeping, those tears are a sign of the chosen human programs who carry the seed that will grow into those able to download the New Program, and they will bring sheaves of souls to Heaven.
The Programmer has programmed great things for us, (so) we are filled with joy (to be numbered among His chosen human programs).
My fellow downloaders who believe in The New Operating Instructions, nothing else is worth being able to download The New Program, Jesus Christ, Who is The Program, taken human form so that we could be downloaded into Him. I've given up every lesser programmed entity, because, compared to Him, The Fullness of God's Program, everything else is worthless rubbish. I want to be found within Him, The Program, with nothing lesser of my own diminishing the fullness with which I download Him. I don't depend on my mind, but on my faith, the (only) way to know Him and His saving power (able to re-program Himself and us) to eternal life and joy. We must suffer as He does to show that we have put Him first, dying, if necessary, to be raised from the dead.
While my download of Him has not yet completely filled my operating system to full capacity, and I don't know as much as I will, I keep moving toward Him because that's the only way I can hope to have the full download within me and download myself fully within it. I have actually had part of my operating system taken over by Jesus Christ, The Program in human form. Fellow believers, I don't think I have taken possession of Him, but that He has taken possession of me. I forget everything behind me, and only look ahead, straining to be better in every way, pursuing the perfection of putting The Programmer above all programmed entities, just as Jesus Christ, the Living Program in human form, did.
Jesus Christ (The Program in perfect, obedient, human form) went to the Mount of Olives. But, early in the morning, He arrived again near the Temple, and all the human programs started coming to Him, and He sat to download within their individual programs what He wanted to have them access and download.
Those who wanted to destroy His credibility thought they would stymie His Downloads by bringing a woman caught in adultery, and shamed her by making her stand in the midst of the people, saying, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. Moses' law commanded us to stone such women. Do you know more than Moses? Are you willing to publicly contradict him and lose credibility with the people chosen to be led by him?"
They did this to test Him, so they could get Him on a charge of blasphemy.
Jesus Christ, The Program in human form, ignored them, and began to write on the ground with His finger, (a most odd thing to do, and everyone wondered what He was writing, what He was up to) so they kept pestering Him to answer (and fall into their trap). This gave the crowd time to realize what a difficult position Jesus was in, and the suspense grew. After He'd given everyone enough time to realize that no one there could come up with a suitable answer, He straightened up, and said, "Let whichever one of you that is free of sin cast the first stone." Then, he bent over, and went back to writing on the ground.
They went away one by one, beginning with the ones who were so familiar with the law they couldn't do anything else. Soon, He was left alone with the woman before Him. Jesus straightened up (again), and said, "Woman where are they? Has no one (dared to have) thrown a stone at you?" She answered, "No one, Sir." Jesus replied, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on, don't violate any of the Operating Instructions."
